The Trussville Senior Activity Center opened its doors on August 31, 1999. Since that time the membership has grown to around 400 senior adults with many more each week. Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., we have prided ourselves on the fact that we offer “Something for Everyone” – everyone over 60 that is and feel that our Senior Center is among the top in the state of Alabama.
Some of the ongoing classes are Line Dance, Exercise Class and Square Dance. We also offer special classes (on demand) and have guest speakers each month.
Our facility consists of a large multipurpose room with two pool tables and many game tables, a private card room, an exercise equipment room, a coffee / TV. room, newly renovated glassed “back porch” with fireplace and a large multipurpose room with a floating hardwood floor.
In addition to our exercise and dance classes, we have a ballroom dance each Thursday, with the exception of the second Thursday of each month. We go on day trips each month and have a very active Red Hat group that goes each month. We also offer at least two (2) extended day trips each year, usually in the spring and around Christmas and have several special events throughout the year.
The Trussville Senior Activity Center is a host site for the Nutrition Program that is offered through the Jefferson County Office of Senior Services. To qualify for this program, you must be 60 years of age or older and live within Jefferson County. For a $1.00 donation, seniors are able to eat a hot meal each day in the company of friends and fellow seniors. The application as well as the menu for each month is available through this website.
There is a calendar of events that will posted on the website and also available at the Center at the beginning of each month.
A copy of the rules and regulations as well as the membership application is available on this website.
